A couple of weeks ago I had Best Buy install my XM Roady2, so that it looked a little more professional than the "sling the antenna wire in through the door and wad the excess up under the front seat" method I used. And while I was in there I figured I might as well spend the extra $200 and get a CD deck with a front auxiliary input for my iPod. You bet.
And it looks phenomenal. All the crazy moving animated lights on the deck, the mounted-under-the-dash awesomeness of the XM, its great.
Then it rained last night. I mean, it POURED. And guess what? Where they installed the antenna wire and brought it into the truck, through the rear brake light above the cab, they forgot to seal the hole. So guess what? Water. In The Colorado.
The roof of the truck was all wet. The back window was wet. The leather seats even had a few drops. I was pissed. I mean, you pay $425, you expect them to finish the job.
Needless to say, after work tonight I'll be making a trip out to Best Buy to get them to make it right. All it takes is about two squeezes from a tube of Liquid Nails. I could do it myself but that's not the point. I paid them an exhorbitant fee, they need to do it.
Whether or not they actually will is another story. I'll keep you posted.

On the vehicle front, my brother and his wife hit a deer a couple weeks ago. Destroyed the front end of their GrandAm. He's doing all the repairs himself, using my garage of course.
Saturday we replaced the headlight. Fun stuff, let me tell you. The frame was so bent up, only two of the three brackets match up. Meaning only two of the three bolts could be re-fastened. Meaning the light points just enough into the air to blind oncoming drivers. You bet.
Just wait until he passes a cop, and gets a ticket for faulty equipment. Pretty quick, the cost savings between going to a body shop and doing it yourself will evaporate.
The hood is another beast altogether. He ordered a new one from a salvage yard -- there's so many GrandAm's, its impossible to get a decent used one, because all the body shops have standing orders to get them as soon as one arrives -- primed Black. We both think that it needs to stay black. Imagine it, a black hood on a white car. Tell me that wouldn't be badass.
His wife isn't going for it. Won't let him do it. Since she usually drives it, and he drives his truck, I can't blame her I guess. Still, that black hood would be pretty sweet.
