There, I said it. I hate Sunfire Unicorn.
What is Sunfire Unicorn, you say? Its a student illustration that was entered in the 2004 AIGA Nebraska Show. It has kind of a cult following among board members. Honestly, though, the name is really all its got going for it, and now that the coolness of the name has worn off, so has the novelty.
I want to kill the Unicorn.
There is a postcard design competition coming around the corner, where designers have been asked to design 5 postcards from the good life. In other words, postcards on and about Nebraska. This is an actual conversation I had with the organizer last night:
Me: I'm going to do a postcard showing the demise of Sunfire Unicorn. And don't even try to talk me out of it.
Man: That's great. Actually, you could do a whole series like this.
Me: I want to show one card with a Nebraska-born axe murderer wielding a machete and chopping Sunfire Unicorn into steaks. And then another card showing a family cookout eating those steaks.
Don't you try to talk me out of it either, readers. Its happening. Deal with it. I'm killing the Unicorn.
