1 for 7 on cards in the AIGA-Nebraska "Deal The Hand You're Dealt" competition ain't bad. Especially when the winner is Neil. I lucked out with my draw, getting all diamonds. So of course I just had to illustrate Neil Diamond to grace the cards. Had to. The giant Trucker Hat Neil, Burger King "I'm The King" Crown Neil, and the 3, 4, and 5 (each with Neil heads equal to the number of the card)...all those cards lost out valiantly to better cards.
And I would totally say if they lost to worst cards too. I'm a poor sport.
here it comes...
here it comes...
wait for it...
ARRGHHHHH!!! BISCUITS AND GRAVY!!! EMPTY CAN OF DIET ORANGE SLICE!!! HE-MAN ON A CRUCIFIX!!! NOOOO!!
How did those cards not win? I mean, sure, a couple of cards I competed with were better, but not all five. No way. I refuse to accept the results.
At least the Joker got in the deck. See, one of each of the 52 cards was chosen by "judges', ahem, to appear in a commenotive (that's spelled wrong, I know, but I ain't changin' it so there. up yours, spell check) deck of cards. Designed by Omaha's preeminent Graphic Designers, its a cool as Coolio in 1995 idea. At least I will be represented.
The Joker, in a way, is the best card to be there if only one can make it. Cos all the others are on there. In a small diamond shape, Trucker Cap Neil, I'm the King Neil, and Regular Neil X2 are there. The card is labeled "Joker of Diamonds" which is ridiculous but hey, there might be some sleazeball out there that doesn't make the connection that the illustration is Neil Diamond unless I blatantly spell it out.
Anyways, yeay me, and stuff. You bet.
