Creighton's schedule has been unofficially available to anyone with time and a modicum of internet savvy for a couple of weeks, but it was made official today. Its listed at the left bar on this site for easy reference (I'll update it after every game).

According to the official presser:

The Bluejays, who have nine players new to Division I play, will face their share of challenges, starting with the regular-season opener Nov. 9 at home against DePaul. Creighton also will play Nebraska and St. Joseph at home, and face back-to-back road games in early December against Drexel and Xavier.

Mixed in are games against Mississippi Valley State (NCAA RPI No. 197 last season), Arkansas-Little Rock (No. 230) and Savannah State (No. 288), as well as meetings with North Carolina Central and Houston Baptist, teams making the jump to Division I.

Overall, Creighton will play eight of its first 10 games at Qwest Center Omaha before opening Missouri Valley Conference play Dec. 29 at home against Illinois State.

Here's some quick-hit thoughts:

Jays in Canada

The Jays spent Labor Day weekend north of the border, playing five games in three days against Canadian competition. This weekend of exhibition games allowed the team to begin practice in late August, giving them nearly a two-month head start on the rest of the country. For a team with nine newcomers, particularly one that lost their top four scorers and four starters from a year ago, this is a huge opportunity for the team to learn to play together.

I couldn't make the trek north, so I called up a designer colleague who lives in Canada and asked him to do me a solid.

Me: "Hey you hoser, hows about you go to game, eh, and write some recaps for my blog, eh?"

The Canadian: "For the last time, we don't really talk like that up here."

Me: "Right, I keep forgetting. So will you do it? I'll buy you a six-pack of Molson in October at the design conference in Denver."

TC: "Make it a twelve-pack and you've got yourself a deal, my friend."

And with that, he was off to watch some September hoops. His recaps from the weekend are after the jump.
