Isacc Miles "Leaves" Team

OMAHA, NEB - Isaac Miles has asked for and been granted his release to transfer out of the Creighton men's basketball program.

The Kansas City, Missouri native recently completed his freshman season at Creighton, where he averaged 6.1 points per game last season.

Rumors of Miles' departure -- either of his own accord or of a more, ahem, unceremonious nature -- have been swirling for a few weeks now, and certainly with this curt two sentence presser CU has made it official.

The rumors that may or may not explain the back story of this development are just that, rumors, and I won't give them credence by laying them out here. Without getting into specifics on those rumors, the general consensus among fans seems to be that after the embarrassment of Terrell Taylor's legal woes came to light, Dana Altman has a much shorter leash than he might have had in years' past with players' transgressions, legal or otherwise.

2007-08 Preliminary Schedule

While the official schedule won't be released until sometime in August or September, here's what we know for sure.

Home Games:
Nebraska
DePaul
St. Joe's

Road Games:
Drexel
Xavier
BracketBuster

Add in the 18 conference games, and you've got 24 games set in stone. The NCAA limit is 29 -- or 30 if you play in an exempt tournament, which means there are 5 more games yet to be added. I'd bet decent money on Arkansas Pine-Bluff (or Arkansas Cream Puff as they're derisively called in some circles) being on the home slate.

Now for some ESPN quality analysis...meaning I am going to tell you things any reasonable person could deduce on their own, but say them in such a way as to make myself sound like I have an actual scoop!

Look for the Jays to add two other lower-eschalon teams to the home docket. And I think you'll see two other teams from the Top 125 make it onto the home docket as well.

As those games are added, I'll update the list.

You bet.
From the OWH:

"The Vegas trip is over," CU Athletic Director Bruce Rasmussen said. "They (Vegas) want to get as good a game as they could get for North Carolina. I think we are going to be pretty good by January or February, but by November we'll be pretty young. So we said we don't object to it if you can find somebody else. If you don't, we'll play. It wasn't we [sic] were trying to get out of it."

And with that, the Jays are no longer playing in the Thanksgiving tournament against North Carolina, and either Louisville or Brigham Young. The story has been spun a couple of different ways -- the most popular among fans being that Creighton is ducking a Top 5 team for fear of embarrassment on ESPN. Right. You bet.
