UPDATE: Apparently there are two tournaments at the Orleans Hotel in Vegas. One is over Thanksgiving, and is called the "Las Vegas Invitational", which is the tournament that Creighton was to have played in this year. The field this year includes North Carolina and Louisville. Next years' slate includes West Virginia, Iowa, Kentucky and K-State.
However, and this is where the confusion comes in, there is another tournament over Christmas called the "Las Vegas Classic", and this is the tourney where Creighton will be playing next year. I guess when they mutually decided to bump their appearance back a year, this is the tourney they were scheduled into. The field this year is clearly a notch below the "Invitational" field: Alabama, Iowa State, Missouri State, and Purdue. And next year, its Creighton, Fresno State, DePaul and St. Louis.
Hmm, you learn something new every day!
Back in May, Creighton pulled out of the 2008 Las Vegas Invitational. The tournament would have given them two home games against random sub-150 RPI teams, but provided they could beat those patsies, it also would have given them a Las Vegas matchup against North Carolina. Yes, THAT North Carolina.
Citing their lack of experience and a desire to play in the tournament with a stronger squad, the Jays pulled out. Here was AD Bruce Rasmussen's statement at the time:

Creighton's schedule has been unofficially available to anyone with time and a modicum of internet savvy for a couple of weeks, but it was made official today. Its listed at the left bar on this site for easy reference (I'll update it after every game).
According to the official presser:
The Bluejays, who have nine players new to Division I play, will face their share of challenges, starting with the regular-season opener Nov. 9 at home against DePaul. Creighton also will play Nebraska and St. Joseph at home, and face back-to-back road games in early December against Drexel and Xavier.
Mixed in are games against Mississippi Valley State (NCAA RPI No. 197 last season), Arkansas-Little Rock (No. 230) and Savannah State (No. 288), as well as meetings with North Carolina Central and Houston Baptist, teams making the jump to Division I.
Overall, Creighton will play eight of its first 10 games at Qwest Center Omaha before opening Missouri Valley Conference play Dec. 29 at home against Illinois State.
Here's some quick-hit thoughts:

Add in the 18 conference games, and you've got 24 games set in stone. The NCAA limit is 29 -- or 30 if you play in an exempt tournament, which means there are 5 more games yet to be added. I'd bet decent money on Arkansas Pine-Bluff (or Arkansas Cream Puff as they're derisively called in some circles) being on the home slate.
Now for some ESPN quality analysis...meaning I am going to tell you things any reasonable person could deduce on their own, but say them in such a way as to make myself sound like I have an actual scoop!
Look for the Jays to add two other lower-eschalon teams to the home docket. And I think you'll see two other teams from the Top 125 make it onto the home docket as well.
As those games are added, I'll update the list.
You bet.
From the OWH:
"The Vegas trip is over," CU Athletic Director Bruce Rasmussen said. "They (Vegas) want to get as good a game as they could get for North Carolina. I think we are going to be pretty good by January or February, but by November we'll be pretty young. So we said we don't object to it if you can find somebody else. If you don't, we'll play. It wasn't we [sic] were trying to get out of it."
And with that, the Jays are no longer playing in the Thanksgiving tournament against North Carolina, and either Louisville or Brigham Young. The story has been spun a couple of different ways -- the most popular among fans being that Creighton is ducking a Top 5 team for fear of embarrassment on ESPN. Right. You bet.
